Interactive adventure story in Ink
I’ve tried to learn Ink, a narrative scripting language, several times. But this time - with help from a wonderful friend and former colleague - things are starting to come together into a short interactive adventure.
Choose your own adventure…with so much more potential
My current work-in-progress sees the player investigating the abandoned magic shop ‘Casters Collections’ in an unspecified fantasy setting.
The original Casters Collections was a magic shop I homebrewed for my D&D5E Dark Winter campaign- the place literally has a life and mind of its own, as well as a whole slew of mysteries to uncover.
What makes this interesting to me is the fact I’m taking something I wrote as a co-op play experience and reworking it for a single-player experience. I still want it to feel like the player is actually exploring with ‘freedom’ rather than being guided to specific things, so I’ve had to figure out some behind-the-scenes stat-tracking in order to give a more customised experience depending on previous actions taken.
